The Ethnic Minorities in Canterbury (EMIC) CIO, formerly known as the Ethnic Minority Independent Council, was set up in 1998 to address issues affecting people from minority ethnic backgrounds in Canterbury and District. In November 2022, EMIC was officially registered as a CIO by the Charity Commission.
