BAME communities are an important part of the Canterbury and East Kent identity with each community vital in shaping the culture in our city. The number of Africans settling and studying in Canterbury and East Kent as a whole has increased over the years. EMIC works with African communities through partnership working with Karibu Community Action Kent (Karibu Kent). Through them we work to support Africans by creating opportunities for Africans to support each other, promote culture and heritage and to give them a voice. We have worked with Karibu Kent each year on promoting and celebrating the Black History Month. Visit the Karibu website for more information on Black and African communities www.karibukent.org.uk
