Polish Community in Canterbury

The Polish Community in Canterbury in represented by a very active organisation, Polish Educational Club in Kent CIC (PECK CIC), co-funded and directed by Dr Aga Gordon and Mrs. Marta Gocek. PECK CIC was funded in 2010 and has been EMIC partner since its beginning. The organisation works with over 100 Polish families locally, mainly from East Kent. Their mission is to support Polish community to integrate into local culture and at the same time preserve Polish, culture and language. This is achieved through organising social events, supporting Polish families to access local services, exercise their rights and educate them about local culture, policies, customs, agencies, healthcare etc. PECK CIC also runs a very successful Polish Saturday School, JC Korzeniowski Polish Supplementary School in Canterbury JC Korzeniowski Polish Saturday School in Canterbury | Canterbury | Facebook promoting bilingualism and teaching Polish to children from 4 years all up to GCSE Polish level.   The school has over 50 pupils on roll and employs qualified teachers (currently 8) as well as volunteers.

PECK CIC is a non-profit and non-political organisation, and its events and initiatives are open to Polish people, those of Polish heritage and also those who are interested in Polish culture.  PECK CIC collaborates widely with other supplementary schools, ethnic minority communities, local organisations and governmental agencies on a variety of projects and initiatives.
