Dear Friends,

We are very sad to announce that Rev. Michael Walling has decided to retire from his position as chair of EMIC at the end of April.

During Mike’s leadership, EMIC has reorganised effectively, has tapped into the social media and internet opportunities, and significantly expanded its reach in ethnic minority communities across Canterbury, by attracting funding and successfully conducting projects aimed at improving the quality of life and health of our members, social integration and cultural exchange. His amazing drive and determination has supported ethnic minority communities in Canterbury to create new connections and enable solid bridges and collaboration with other local institutions.

Dear Mike, Thank you for your wise leadership and for giving a strong voice to all ethnic minorities in Canterbury!

We will miss you and we are looking forward to see at our next meeting as Honorary Member of EMIC!

Following Mike’s retirement, Dr. Radu Stancu has been appointed by the trustees in the position of chair. His new team leadership comprises Dr. Mohamed Sakel as Vice Chair, Bakul Chandola as Secretary and Marta Gocek as Treasurer.

On behalf of all EMIC trustees and friends, Radu had the following message for Mike:

“Dear Mike, Thank you for your wise leadership and for giving a strong voice to all ethnic minorities in Canterbury!

We will miss you and we are looking forward to see at our next meeting as Honorary Member of EMIC!

Love and best wishes for the future, EMIC”
